I began playing the mandolin about 12 years ago. I really wanted a quality F-style mandolin but the lack of funds prohibited me from purchasing one. So, I decided I would build my own, figuring it would be much cheaper. After all, it couldn't be much worse than the mandolin I was playing at that time. Well, I was partially right. Moss #1 sounded pretty decent, but over the period of time it took me to build it I had spent enough money to buy a professional instrument ! If I could go back and do things over again I wouldn't change a thing. Building mandolins has become my passion. Along the way I have learned different techniques using CNC equipment; aiding the building process and resulting in a high quality, professional instrument. I spend a great deal of time on details trying to make a mandolin that's pleasing to the eye as well as the ears.
